The Way of the Chosen People
Karaite Judaism: Karaim or Bnei Mikra: "Followers of Scripture"
Judaism has always been an intellectually diverse religion and through the years it has developed "movements" or denominations that reflect this diversity.
Today Rabbinic Judaism is the main body of the Jewish religion. As discussed elsewhere, it stems largely from the teachings of the Pharisees (P'rushim).
Karaism is an equally ancient and resilient lineage of the Jewish people, although currently less numerous and influential than in the past when as high as 40 percent of the Jewish population have been Karaite Jews. Today it is estimated that there are around 30,000 Karaites worldwide.
