Reconciling belief A response by John of AllFaith, Dec. 2006 |
Questioner: Matthew
Subject: Reconciling beliefQuestion:
After 15 years as a Pagan and ceremonial magician I have converted to Christianity. That being said I am trying to reconcile some things that I have experienced to be true verses common Christian doctrine. This is of course a normal reaction to a change of paradigm.
Specifically I am a pranic vampire (feeding by touch). It is a refexive thing and not something I taught myself to do. I have learned some control over the years and feed responsibly as opposed to constantly, or to over indulgence. The question then becomes where does that leave me in Christianity. I am aware of the prohibition on sanguine feeding, which I believe is based on the blood carrying the life force. I'm not sure what to think on this.

Hi Matthew,
Very interesting question, thanks for writing in.
It will probably be helpful to consider what you are actually doing.
As you doubtless understand, there are two basic energy fields surrounding us, the aura and the etheric.
The aura, simply stated (I know this is not a complete description) "mirrors" what is going on within the individual.
The etheric is the energy field that is created as energy (or prana) "seeps out" of the living beings. For there to be life there must be energy (prana). This etheric energy field protects us from, among other things, other people's energy fields. A weakened etheric makes us more vulnerable to social and atmospheric negativity and so forth. This makes us more vulnerable to illness, depression, (other) psychic vampyres, and the like. This is why the etheric is so easy to see when a person is in a highly energetic state and so difficult to see when a person is in ill health or dying. The weaker the etheric the more vulnerable the person.
This, I am assuming here, is our common knowledge.
Now, the Bible clearly forbids the drinking of blood, which you are not currently doing and which you acknowledge would be "sinful." However it also forbids doing anything harmful to others. This is seen in the Golden Rule of "do unto others as you would have them to unto you" and so on.
When a person intentionally depletes the etheric of another person, even in moderation, he/she is stealing that person's life force (prana) or energy. Doing this weakens the person and doing this excessively can even kill the person. You and I both know this to be true even if others (like most Christians) do not.
This being the case, it is also a violation of "Thou shalt not kill" because it is a case of "partial murder." It is also a violation of "Thou shalt not steal" because it is energy theft.
There are also strong biblical prohibitions concerning sexuality that should be considered here. What happens during the sex act? The two "become one flesh." How is this the case? During sex energy levels not only rise, they co-mingle, in effect creating a spiritual union between the people involved. It is because of this pranic mergence, in part, that the Bible forbids Christians from marrying or even excessively fellowshipping with non-Christians. Note how the following is worded:
II Cor. 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God...The "temple of God" is the human body. What has this got to do with pranic or etheric vampyrism? This... when one takes this energy into one's "temple" one is, in effect, entering into a type of psycho-sexual union with the unwitting victim. That being the case, am I am convinced it is, it is, in effect, a form of spiritual rape.
I also have this ability, but would never use it without the other person's full knowledge and permission (utilizing this spiritual reality during love making can be awesome for both parties by the way). Variations on this ability can be used for good, for instance empathic healing, however such intimate activities should NEVER be performed on anyone without their permission and understanding of what is being done. Again, it would be the spiritual equivalent of rape.
Such being the case, I don't see that there is anyway to justify pranic or etheric vampirism from a Christian perspective (nor from that of most other traditions, including the vast majority of Pagan traditions that hold the Rede: 'An it harm none, do as ye wilt.' This harms others.
My advise would be to abandon all such practices immediately.
Hope this helps,
~John of AllFaith
