Hi Katrina,
This answer will depend on what one considers Jesus' message to be.
Think of what you consider to be Christian virtues, then think of ways theses are being realized by individuals and groups. There's your answer.
The founding of various charities by Christian people. Christians who give to charities due to their faith, Christians who help those who are hurting, who work for peace, who embrace those who have been cast out by society...
For some Christians, evangelistic ministries such as the 700 club, Word TV, TBN, God TV, and so on are spreading the Gospel around the world as required by the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). Such Christians would also point to efforts to teach things like Intelligent Design in the schools, to place new restrictions on legalized abortion, opposition to fetal and stem cell research and so on as an advancement of the Cause of Christ to defend human life and honor the Creator.
Other, equally devout Christians would point to the good works of groups like Christian Children's Fund, the Salvation Army etc. that are caring for the needy, as Jesus commanded.
Other, equally devout Christians will point to issues like the legalization of same-gender rights in certain places and the ongoing struggle to achieve complete equal rights as examples of Christian service.
Certain Christians may consider the US war against Islam to be an advancement of the Cause of Christ, because if Islam is weakened, Christian missionaries may be in a better place to evangelize them.
As I say, the answers are as diverse as the individual Christians.
For this question I'd suggest one of two approaches.
- 1. Explain, as I have here, that the answer will depend on how one determines what Jesus' teachings were, then give examples as I have here.
- Or 2. State your criteria for what Jesus' teachings were and then give examples of how the are being met.
By far however, among Christians, the most common answer would be that this prophecy is being fulfilled:
Matt. 28:18 "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.According to millions of Christians, once in a single generation when every person on earth has been "confronted" with the Gospel (whether or not they accept it), Jesus will return to this earth (although there are other factors to take in consideration as well). Fulfilling this "Great Commission" is considered by millions of Christians to be the most important job for the Church.
Hope this helps,
