If Jesus was alive today would he be a Christian?

Hi Allan,I can all but assure you that he would not be. From what we know, Jesus was a Jew in every sense of the word. At the time he lived, there was a debate raging over the Oral Torah (the Mishna, the Talmud etc) and he took the view championed by the Kairite Jews, that the Oral Torah was useful as commentary, but that it must always be regarded as rabinic commentary, not as scriptural authority.
My guess is that if Jesus were alive today he would probably be a Kariate, although he would be at odds with them on certain points as well.
